Hugh Jackman admits he used to go gay clubs all the time. Jackman has had to deal with rumors that he’s gay for most of his career and the gossip mill has gone into overdrive since People Magazine declared him this year’s Sexiest Man Alive. Hugh talked about how his wife feels about the gay rumors last week, and now he’s talking about frequenting gay clubs as a young man. I think Jackman enjoys the controversy.
But his reasons for being a regular at gay bars isn’t exactly what one might think. Hugh says that he and a friend used to go to the clubs to troll for drunk chicks.
He said: “I probably shouldn’t be saying this, but I remember when I was about 19, me and my friend used to go to these dance parties which were 80 per cent gay guys, 18 per cent girls who were sick of heterosexual guys hitting on them, and then vultures like me and my mate.
We would go there until two in the morning, when the girls were really drunk and wishing they weren’t with 80 percent gay guys.
I’m the worst kind of straight guy. The leech! The vulture!”

Maybe I’m just in denial, but I can see this Hugh Jackman more than I can see the gay Hugh Jackman rumor. Although, this is pretty creepy if you think too hard about it. Back in my clubbing days we all knew who those guys were, the ones who hung out at the back of the club, watching to see which girls were getting drunk, and then moving in about 20 minutes before closing time. We stayed away from them, and made sure our drunk friends did, too. They really are the worst kind of straight guy. None of them looked like Hugh Jackman, though, or I’d have been getting really drunk, often.
Jackman is enjoying his People bestowed title and isn’t wanting to give it up anytime soon. Hugh says he’s no one term winner and has his eye on two, three, even four years as the magazine’s sexiest man. The more I see him doing his latenight rounds, mesmerizing me with his accent, charm and smile, if People opened it up to public votes, he’d have mine. Creepy gay bar troller or not.
