Is Hustle okay to watch with kids?

Hustle is an inspiring and feel-good sports comedy coming out on Netflix tomorrow, June 8. Since the movie stars Adam Sandler and Queen Latifah, plus features cameos from tons of NBA players, many people are looking forward to watching the new movie. But is it okay for families or for parents to watch with kids?

Those reading this are likely curious about how offensive or mature Hustle is as a movie. Since Adam Sandler is in it, many might be confused about whether it’s okay for families or not. Sandler has done plenty of family-friendly comedies, but he has also done much raunchier, hard R-rated films.

Below we’ll give you the (spoiler-free) lowdown on Hustle so you can decide whether it is suitable for family movie night.

Hustle is rated R due to language. For the most part, there isn’t much else in the movie worth rating it R as it’s a feel-good sports drama.

In the case of Hustle, I would say it’s relatively tame when it comes to adult topics. However, there is some crass language and crude jokes. You will hear a bevy of curse words from the characters, but it’s mostly used for trash-talking on the court or for comedic purposes. Parents should use their discretion, but when it comes to R-ratings, this one is mild.

One scene taking place near a pool also shows a topless woman (but it’s from the back, so you can only see the side of her chest, barely). Otherwise, no, there isn’t any actual nudity (besides some shirtless men playing basketball) and there are no sex scenes, or even much romance at all.

There is a running joke that one character is addicted to porn and some references to masturbation, but nothing is shown so it falls more under crude jokes.

No there isn’t any drug usage in this movie and even the drinking is kept minimal with a few characters shown drinking in bars and that’s about it.

Hustle starts streaming tomorrow, June 8, on Netflix.
